Late afternoon is probably my favorite time of day. That's when my critters show up and begin their antics.
Regular visitors include any number of squirrels (the Rockies), ravens (nicknamed Eddie and the
Cruisers), a variety of doves, crows, cardinals, pilated woodpeckers, and anywhere from one to three bunnies.
Depending upon what they'll need, I'll put out bird seed in the feeders and scatter a variety of corn, peanuts, and cracked nuts for them to feast on. One of the ravens and a squirrel appear to have gotten used to my presence as they've taken to hanging around when I put out the food.
The squirrels are the funniest, as they'll be calmly feast away, when one will suddenly start chasing another, with the pair dashing madly through the yard and scattering everyone else.
But occasionally, this hawk will show up, and everyone scatters for safety.Yep, watching this menagerie certainly brings a lot of pleasure as the day starts to end.
